Find The Best Car Wraps Near Me How to Choose
Want to find the best car wraps near you? Want to know how to choose the best one? There are many things to consider. Lets begin with the basics.
What are Car wraps
A car wrap or vehicle vinyl wrap is a large vinyl graphic or decal applied directly over the original paint of the vehicle. The application of the wrap allows you to change the vehicle’s appearance in a relatively short period of time. It can also be removed quickly in order to return the vehicle back to its original condition. This may be a different color from what was on the vehicle, sometimes the same color with a differing finish like a gloss, matte or protective layer or even clear - with no color at all. Rather than car wrap, some people use the phrase Paint Wrap, Color Change Wrap, Vehicle Graphics, and Paint Protection Film.
Car Wrap History
Originally, wraps were used to advertise a business on a vehicle. As their popularity grew, wrap installers that performed advertising vinyls, began to realize that there were a number of benefits in addition to just advertising. For example, as a way to change the color of a car, or have a new finish or just to better protect the paint over time. Manufacturers of vinyl wrap followed this new trend by producing more colors and discovering easier to install, durable materials. Nowadays, car lovers are ordering complex and creative graphic designs and advanced colors, such as metallic, chrome, and even color shifting wraps that can actually make the car look a different color based on your view.
The Chemical process used to create the Car Wrap
In terms of the actual material used, cast vinyl is the most common material chosen starts as a liquid and is cast into a sheet or form and then processed through ovens, which evaporates the solvents in the liquid. What is left is a solid film usually between 2 mil (useful in printable media) to 4 mil (good for a solid color) thick.
The Process of Adding the Wrap
There are three main phases when it comes to adding a car wrap. The first one is the design phase, which involves getting accurate measurements for the vehicle and actual desired design of the graphics to be applied. The second is the production phase where the image is printed and then after laminated in order to protect the vinyl from abrasions and UV rays that can cause graphics to fade over time. The third and final phase is the actual installation where the vinyl is actually applied to your vehicle. Typically, wrapping a car only takes 1-2 days and you can leave a wrap on a vehicle for up to five years.
Risks in Wrapping a car or truck
In most cases, Vehicle wraps should not damage factory paint jobs and do not stick to rust. However, it is important to know that if your vehicle has some paint chipping, a wrap might pull the chipping off the paint when removed. If it is a leased car or truck, you must always obtain permission to wrap a leased or rented vehicle. However, since most leased or rented vehicles have factory paint jobs with excellent paint quality, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Hopefully this article will provide you more information in helping you find the best car wraps near you.
