What Is God’s Plan for Me?
Let’s be honest: "What is God’s plan for my life?" It’s one of the biggest, most nerve-wracking questions we can ask. Whether you're making decisions about school, career, relationships, or just trying to figure out the next step - uncertainty is hard. But here’s the truth that can anchor you when nothing makes sense: God doesn’t just have a plan for your life - He is the plan.
You Were Made On Purpose
Scripture is clear: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” - Jeremiah 1:5 “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord…” - Jeremiah 29:11 You are not random. You are not an accident. Your dreams, your quirks, even your struggles - they’re not wasted. God wrote your story with love, on purpose, for a purpose.
But What If I Don’t Know the Next Step?
Most of us wish God would just send a text message saying: "Hey, here’s exactly what you’re supposed to do this year. Here's a 10-year plan. No confusion. You're welcome." But that’s not usually how He works. Why? Because He wants relationship, not just direction. He wants you to walk with Him, not just work for Him. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” - Psalm 119:105 Notice it doesn’t say “a floodlight for your entire future.” It’s a lamp, just enough light for the next faithful step.
God's Plan Isn’t Always Comfortable, But It’s Always Good
Look at Mary. When the angel appeared, she didn’t get a 30-year blueprint. She got a calling - and she said yes. “Let it be done to me according to your word.” - Luke 1:38 Her yes changed the world. God’s plan might stretch you. It might confuse you. But it will never harm you. He is the Good Shepherd. And He never leads His sheep off a cliff.
3 Ways to Trust God's Plan in Real Life
1. Stay Close to the Sacraments - The Eucharist and Confession aren’t just rituals—they’re spiritual fuel for discernment and peace.
2. Pray for Wisdom, Not Just Answers - God doesn’t always answer our “why,” but He always answers when we ask for wisdom (see James 1:5).
3. Take the Next Right Step - Don’t freeze. Don’t wait for perfection. Take one step in faith, and let God guide the rest. He can’t steer a parked car.
Remember This:
God’s plan isn’t just about where you’ll end up - it’s about who you’re becoming. And you’re becoming someone holy. Someone strong. Someone radiant with grace. You don’t have to figure it all out today. You just have to trust the One who already has. “Be still, and know that I am God.” - Psalm 46:10
So breathe. Trust. Keep showing up. God is already five steps ahead, working all things for your good. You are right where you’re supposed to be.
