OCIA Kids Version Session 7: Baptism & Confirmation – New Life in Christ and the Spirit’s Power
✨ Baptism and Confirmation ✨
Welcome back! Today we're learning about two very special sacraments in the Catholic Church: Baptism and Confirmation. These sacraments help us begin and strengthen our friendship with God. They remind us that we are part of God's family and that He is always with us.

Baptism is usually the first sacrament a person receives. During Baptism, water is poured over the person's head while special prayers are said. At that moment, something wonderful happens. The person becomes a child of God and a member of the Church. God welcomes them into His family and gives them a new spiritual beginning. Water is an important symbol because it cleans, refreshes, and gives life. In Baptism, God uses water to show His love and to help us begin a new life with Him.
You may also see other symbols during Baptism. Oil reminds us that God gives us strength. A white garment reminds us of new life and purity. A candle reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world. These symbols help us understand what God is doing in our hearts.
Confirmation is another very important sacrament. If Baptism is the beginning of our life with God, Confirmation helps make our faith stronger. During Confirmation, a bishop or priest places holy oil on the person's forehead and prays for the Holy Spirit to be with them in a special way. The Holy Spirit helps us become stronger, wiser, and braver followers of Jesus.
The Church teaches that the Holy Spirit gives us gifts such as wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and courage. These gifts help us make good choices, be kind to others, stand up for what is right, and stay close to God. You can think of Confirmation as receiving spiritual strength to help you live your faith every day.
Baptism and Confirmation are not just special ceremonies that happen once and are forgotten. They are part of who we are. They remind us that we belong to God, that He loves us, and that the Holy Spirit is always with us to guide and help us.
This week, try making the Sign of the Cross slowly and remember that you are a child of God. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you make good choices each day, and look for ways to share God's love with others through your words and actions. Always remember that God loves you, you are part of His family, and the Holy Spirit is helping you grow every day.
