OCIA Kids Version Session 4: The Trinity & God’s Love
Understanding the Trinity
Today we're going to learn about one of the most amazing mysteries of our faith: the Trinity. The Trinity means there is one God in three Persons - God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. This may sound confusing at first, but that's okay. There are many things we don't fully understand, like how our brains work or how big the universe is, but we know they are real. God is even greater than those things.

The most important thing to remember is that God is love. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit have always loved one another perfectly, and God invites us to share in that love. This means you are never alone. God loves you when you are happy, when you are scared, when you make mistakes, and even when you feel unimportant. His love never ends.
The Trinity also helps us understand how God works in our lives. God the Father created you and knows everything about you. Jesus came to earth to teach us how to live and to save us. The Holy Spirit helps guide us, comfort us, and give us courage each day. When you feel inspired to help someone, feel sorry after making a bad choice, or feel peaceful after praying, that may be the Holy Spirit working in your heart.
Every time Catholics make the Sign of the Cross and say, "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit," we are remembering the Trinity. We also pray to the Father, through Jesus, with the help of the Holy Spirit. This week, try making the Sign of the Cross slowly, pray the Glory Be each day, and remember that no matter what happens, God loves you very much. The Trinity is not just something Catholics believe - it is the story of God's love for you.
