OCIA Kids Version Session 27: Life of Service – Finding Your Gifts and Joining Ministries

🤝 Serving Others With Love 🤝

Welcome back! Today we're learning about serving others with love. One of the most important parts of being Catholic is not only receiving God's love but also sharing that love with the people around us. Jesus showed us how to do this through the way He lived His life.

Jesus spent His time helping people. He cared for the poor, healed the sick, comforted those who were sad, and welcomed people who felt left out. He did not live only for Himself. He lived to love and serve others, and He invites us to do the same.

Every person has special gifts and talents that can help others. Think about a sports team. Some players score points, some play defense, and some encourage their teammates. Everyone has an important role. The Church is similar. God gives each person unique abilities that can be used to help others and make the world a better place.

Maybe you are a good listener, a kind friend, a talented artist, a great helper, or someone who makes people feel included. These gifts are important. God gave them to you for a reason. When you use your gifts to help others, you are sharing God's love and growing closer to Jesus.

Serving others does not always mean doing something big or dramatic. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. Helping clean up, smiling at someone who feels lonely, helping a younger child, praying for someone, listening to a friend, or helping at home are all ways of serving others.

Serving not only helps the people around us, it also changes us. It helps us become more patient, caring, generous, and loving. The more we practice serving others, the more we become the people God created us to be.

There are many ways to serve in the Church and in your community. Some people sing in the choir, teach children, help families in need, greet people at church, or volunteer at special events. No matter your age, there is always a way to help. Even young people can make a real difference through acts of kindness and service.

This week, think about the gifts God has given you. Try to do at least one act of kindness every day and ask Jesus to help you serve others with love. Pay attention to the needs of the people around you and look for opportunities to help.

Always remember that God created you with special gifts. The world needs those gifts. When you use them to help others, you bring God's love into the world and become more like Jesus every day.
