OCIA Kids Version Session 24: Retreat Reflection – Preparing the Heart for Easter Vigil
🌅 Preparing Your Heart for Easter 🌅
Welcome back! Today's lesson is a little different. Instead of learning lots of new information, this is a chance to slow down, reflect, and prepare your heart for Easter. Easter is one of the most important celebrations in the Catholic faith, and this is a good time to think about everything you have learned and how God has been working in your life.

Over the past lessons, you have learned about Jesus, prayer, the Mass, the sacraments, the saints, and what it means to live as a follower of Christ. Take a moment to think about all the things you have discovered and how your faith has grown. Sometimes it is important to pause and look back so you can see how far you have come.
We live in a busy world filled with noise, distractions, screens, and schedules. But often God speaks to us most clearly during quiet moments. That is why taking time to reflect is so important. When we slow down and spend time with God, we can better hear His voice and feel His presence in our lives.
Imagine climbing a tall mountain. As you climb, you sometimes stop to look around and realize how much progress you have made. Your faith journey is similar. You may not notice it every day, but God has been helping you grow step by step.
Think about why you started this journey. Maybe you wanted to learn more about God, grow closer to Jesus, find peace, discover your purpose, or better understand the Catholic faith. Whatever brought you here, God has been with you every step of the way.
It is also important to remember that God does not expect you to be perfect. Everyone makes mistakes, has questions, and struggles sometimes. Even the saints had challenges. God is not looking for perfection. He wants people who trust Him and keep trying to follow Him.
If you sometimes feel nervous or wonder whether you are ready, that is normal. Learning to follow Jesus is like learning a new sport, instrument, or skill. It takes time, practice, and patience. God simply asks us to keep walking with Him and trusting Him each day.
Easter reminds us that Jesus rose from the dead and brought hope, new life, and joy into the world. Because of Jesus, we can always begin again, no matter what mistakes we have made in the past.
This week, spend a few quiet minutes with God each day. Think about one way you have grown during this journey, and thank God for guiding you and staying with you along the way.
Always remember that God chose you, loves you, and wants a friendship with you. Easter is not the end of your journey. It is the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope, grace, and a deeper relationship with Jesus.
