✝️ Understanding Holy Week ✝️

Welcome Back!

Today we’re talking about one of the MOST important times in the whole Catholic year:

🌿 Holy Week

Holy Week is when Catholics remember:

• the final days of Jesus’ life

• His death on the Cross ✝️

• and His Resurrection on Easter 🌅

This is the HEART of our faith.

🌿 Palm Sunday

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday.

At church, people receive palm branches 🌿 to remember when Jesus entered Jerusalem.

Crowds welcomed Him like a king and shouted:

🎉 “Hosanna!”

People were joyful because they believed Jesus was the Savior.

But sadly…

only a short time later, many people turned against Him.

This reminds us that we must choose every day to stay close to Jesus.

🍞 Holy Thursday

Next comes Holy Thursday.

This is the day Jesus shared the Last Supper with His disciples.

At the Last Supper:

• Jesus gave us the Eucharist ✨

• and washed His disciples’ feet 🫧

Why?

Because Jesus wanted to teach us that:

❤️ Real leaders serve others with love and humility.

Think about that:

The Son of God chose to serve others.

That’s how we should treat people too.

✝️ Good Friday

Then comes Good Friday.

This is the day Jesus died on the Cross for us.

That sounds sad - and it IS a serious day - but it also shows the greatest love ever.

Jesus was willing to suffer because:

❤️ He loves us so much.

The Cross reminds us:

God never gives up on us.

Even during painful moments.


🕯️ Holy Saturday & The Easter Vigil

Then comes Holy Saturday and the Easter Vigil.

Church begins in darkness.

Then:

🕯️ A special Easter candle is lit.

Slowly, light spreads through the whole church.

That light represents:

• Jesus rising from the dead ✨

• and bringing hope to the world 🌈
  
  

🌅 Easter Sunday

Then comes Easter Sunday!

🎉 Jesus Rose From the Dead!

• The tomb was empty.

• Jesus defeated sin and death.

• Hope won!

That’s why Easter is the greatest celebration in Christianity.

❤️ Holy Week Helps Us Grow Closer to Jesus

Let’s be honest:

Holy Week can feel busy with:

• long church services ⛪

• lots happening

• and many emotions

But every day tells part of the story of God’s love for us.

It’s like the most important journey ever told.

And when we really enter into Holy Week, it can help us grow much closer to Jesus.

⭐ Your Challenge This Week

Try these 3 things:

1️⃣ Pay Attention at Church

Listen carefully during Holy Week services.

2️⃣ Think About Jesus’ Love

Think about one way Jesus showed love and sacrifice for others.

3️⃣ Thank Jesus

Thank Him for loving you enough to die and rise again for you.

❤️ Always Remember This

Holy Week is NOT just about remembering history.

It’s about understanding:

✨ How deeply Jesus loves us.

And because Jesus rose from the dead, we can live with:

• hope 🌈

• faith ✝️

• and joy 😊

every single day.
