OCIA Kids Version Session 17: Prayer II – Adoration, Devotions, and Daily Spiritual Life
🙏 Making Prayer Part of Everyday Life 🙏
Welcome back! Today we're learning how to make prayer part of everyday life. We already learned that prayer is talking and listening to God. Now we're going to learn how to stay connected to God throughout our day, even when life is busy.

One special way Catholics pray is through Eucharistic Adoration. During Adoration, the Eucharist is placed in a special holder called a monstrance so people can spend quiet time with Jesus. Many people think prayer always means talking, but sometimes prayer is simply sitting quietly with Jesus. Just like spending time with a good friend, you do not always need to talk. Sometimes just being together is enough.
If you ever get distracted, feel sleepy, or have trouble focusing while praying, don't worry. That happens to everyone, even adults and saints. The important thing is that you keep coming back to God. He is happy whenever you spend time with Him.
Catholics also have special prayer traditions called devotions. Some examples are the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Novenas, and the Stations of the Cross. These prayers help us think about Jesus, remember His love, and grow closer to Him.
Prayer is very important because it helps keep our souls strong. Just like our bodies need food and water, our hearts and souls need prayer. Prayer brings us peace, gives us strength, helps us make good choices, and reminds us that God is always with us.
The good news is that prayer does not have to be long. Small prayers matter too. You can pray when you wake up, before meals, before a test, before a game, when you feel nervous, or before you go to sleep. Simple prayers like "Jesus, help me," or "Thank You, God," are wonderful prayers that God loves to hear.
One of the best ways to grow closer to God is by praying a little every day. Just like exercising regularly helps your body become stronger, regular prayer helps your faith become stronger. Little by little, prayer helps you build a closer friendship with God.
This week, try spending five quiet minutes with God each day. You might also try praying part of the Rosary or another simple devotion. Before bed, thank God for one good thing that happened during your day.
Always remember that prayer is not about being perfect. It is about staying connected to God. Every time you pray, no matter how simple the prayer is, you are growing closer to the God who loves you more than anyone else ever could.
