OCIA Kids Version Session 17: Prayer II – Adoration, Devotions, and Daily Spiritual Life

🙏 Making Prayer Part of Everyday Life 🙏

Welcome Back!

Today we’re talking about something REALLY important:

✨ How to Make Prayer Part of Everyday Life

Last time we learned that:

❤️ Prayer is talking and listening to God.

Today we’re going a little deeper!

✨ What Is Eucharistic Adoration?

In Catholic churches, Jesus is present in the Eucharist.

During:

✨ Eucharistic Adoration

the Eucharist is placed in a special holder called a:

🌟 Monstrance

so people can quietly pray and spend time with Jesus.

🤫 Prayer Can Be Quiet

Here’s something REALLY important:

You do NOT need fancy words to pray.

Sometimes prayer is simply:

❤️ Sitting quietly with Jesus.

Think about spending time with someone who really loves you.

You don’t always need to talk nonstop.

Sometimes:

Just being together matters.

That’s what Adoration can feel like.

😴 Getting Distracted Happens

And yes…

Sometimes people:

  • get distracted

  • feel sleepy

  • or lose focus while praying

That happens to EVERYONE!

But:

❤️ God is still happy you showed up.

📿 Special Catholic Devotions

Catholics also have special prayer traditions called:

✨ Devotions

These are ways people grow closer to God.

Some examples are:

  • The Rosary 📿

  • The Divine Mercy Chaplet ❤️

  • Novenas 🙏

  • The Stations of the Cross ✝️

These prayers help people:

  • focus on Jesus

  • remember His love

  • and stay connected to Him

during busy lives.

💪 Prayer Strengthens Our Souls

Imagine trying to stay healthy without:

  • food 🍎

  • or water 💧

Eventually you would feel weak.

Prayer works the same way for our souls.

Prayer helps keep our hearts:

  • strong 💪

  • peaceful 🕊️

  • loving ❤️

  • and connected to God ✨

🌟 Small Prayers Matter Too

Here’s more good news:

Prayer does NOT need to be super long to matter.

Even tiny prayers are powerful.

You can pray:

  • when you wake up ☀️

  • before meals 🍽️

  • before a test 📝

  • before sports ⚽

  • when you feel nervous 😬

  • or before bed 🌙

Simple prayers like:

“Jesus, help me.”

or

“Thank You, God.”

are REAL prayers too.

📅 Consistency Matters

Think about exercise.

Doing a little exercise every day helps more than:

  • exercising one time

  • then quitting for a month 😄

Prayer works the same way.

Little daily prayers help us grow closer to God over time.

And when life gets difficult:

❤️ Prayer reminds us we are never alone.

⭐ Your Challenge This Week

Try these 3 things:

1️⃣ Spend Quiet Time With God

Spend five quiet minutes with God every day.

2️⃣ Try a Devotion

Pray one decade of the Rosary or another simple devotion.

3️⃣ Thank God

Before bed, thank God for ONE good thing that happened that day.

❤️ Always Remember This

Prayer is NOT about being perfect.

It’s about:

✨ Staying connected to God.

And every time you pray - even in simple ways - you grow closer to:

❤️ The God who loves you more than anyone else ever could.
