OCIA Kids Version Session 15: Catholic Morality II – Catholic Social Teaching and Conscience

❤️ Living Your Faith Every Day ❤️

Welcome back! Today we're learning about how to live our faith every day. Being Catholic is not only about going to church on Sundays. It is also about how we treat people, the choices we make, how we help others, and how we live each day.

God has given each of us something called a conscience. A conscience is like an inner compass that helps us know the difference between right and wrong. Have you ever felt that something was not a good choice before you did it? Or felt happy and peaceful after helping someone? That can be your conscience helping guide you.

Just like a phone or GPS needs updates to work properly, our conscience needs guidance too. We learn what is good by praying, reading the Bible, going to Mass, and learning from Jesus. These things help us make wise and loving decisions.

The Church also teaches something called Catholic Social Teaching. This simply means that God wants us to care about other people. Jesus taught us to love others, help those in need, care for the poor, respect every person, and protect human life. Every person matters to God, whether they are young or old, healthy or sick, rich or poor.

Faith is not only about praying for people. It is also about helping them. That is why churches help feed the hungry, visit the sick, support families, and care for people who are struggling. As followers of Jesus, we are called to do the same.

Even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Smiling at someone, helping a classmate, standing up to bullying, sharing with others, or simply being respectful can brighten someone's day and show God's love. The Church also teaches us to care for God's creation by appreciating nature, avoiding waste, and helping protect the world God gave us.

Sometimes doing the right thing can be difficult. Friends or other people may pressure us to make poor choices. But God gives us wisdom, courage, and strength to choose what is right. Every day is a new opportunity to love others and grow closer to Him.

This week, try doing one act of kindness every day. Before making an important decision, ask yourself, "What would Jesus want me to do?" Also, take a moment to pray for someone who may be having a difficult time.

Always remember that faith is not just something we talk about. Faith is something we live. When we love, forgive, help, and care for others, we bring God's love into the world and become more like Jesus.
