OCIA Kids Version Session 13: Mary & the Saints – Communion of Saints and Marian Devotion
🌹 Mary and the Saints 🌹
Welcome back! Today we're learning about Mary and the saints. Sometimes people wonder if Catholics worship Mary and the saints, but the answer is no. Catholics worship God alone. Mary and the saints are honored because they loved God, followed Him, inspire us, and pray for us.

Saints are like spiritual role models. Just like people look up to great athletes, heroes, or people who help others, Catholics look up to the saints because they show us how to trust God, love others, stay faithful, and do what is right. Saints were not perfect people. Many of them made mistakes, felt afraid, or went through very hard times. But they kept turning back to God, and He helped them become holy.
Mary is very special because she is the mother of Jesus. When God asked Mary to become the mother of Jesus, she trusted Him and said yes. That yes changed the world. Catholics honor Mary because she always points us toward Jesus and helps lead us closer to Him.
Catholics also ask saints to pray for them. This is like asking a friend, parent, or grandparent to pray for you when you need help. The saints are alive in heaven with God, and they are still part of God's family. This reminds us that we are never alone in our faith journey.
Some saints are remembered for special things. St. Joseph is known as a protector and helper for families. St. Anthony is often asked to help when things are lost. Other saints are remembered for courage, kindness, helping the poor, caring for the sick, and loving God in amazing ways.
One special Catholic prayer is the Rosary. The Rosary helps people think about the life of Jesus while praying with Mary. It can bring peace, focus, and closeness to God.
This week, try learning about one saint and their story. Pray one Hail Mary slowly and think about the words. Then ask yourself, "What kind of person do I want to become?" Always remember that holiness is not only for famous people. God calls ordinary people to become saints too. With God's help, kindness, courage, love, and faith can change the world.
