If We Truly Believe: A Letter to Followers of Christ
Dear Friends,
If you truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God, this letter is written for you. Not as judgment, but as an invitation to pause and reflect on how we live. Believing in Jesus is not just something we say - it is something we live through our choices. Jesus did not come to be admired from a distance. He came to be followed. And following Him changes everything.
If we truly believed, some habits would slowly fall away.
We would stop living mainly for comfort, approval, or status.
We would let go of anger, resentment, and grudges, knowing forgiveness frees the soul.
We would stop gossiping and numbing ourselves with endless distractions.
We would stop chasing money as if it were our savior and pride as if it were our guide.
We would take sin seriously, not out of fear, but out of love - because when you love someone, you do not keep choosing what separates you from them.
And new things would begin to grow.
We would pray as real conversation with God.
We would open Scripture daily, even for a few minutes, letting God’s Word shape our thinking instead of the world’s noise.
We would become gentler, more patient, more generous.
We would care for the lonely and forgotten.
We would choose honesty, humility, and reconciliation. We would protect our hearts and serve quietly, forgive quickly, and love courageously - not perfectly, but sincerely.
Daily life would look different.
Mornings would begin with gratitude.
Decisions would pass through one simple question: does this bring me closer to Christ?
We would speak life into others, notice suffering, apologize when wrong, and end each day with gratitude and prayer.
Life might not become easier, but it would become deeper.
For parents, this matters even more. Your children learn who God is by watching you. They see whether faith is lived or just talked about. Your greatest gift is showing them what loving Jesus looks like in real life - praying together, blessing them, modeling forgiveness, and choosing God even when it costs something. And for those without children, your life still preaches. Friends and coworkers notice your peace, your compassion, and how you handle hardship.
Above all, remember the goal. The goal is not comfort or success. The goal is Heaven. This life is temporary. Souls are eternal. Every act of love matters. Every sacrifice counts. Every prayer is heard.
That is why daily spiritual growth matters. SmartGuy.com was built to help with this, offering hundreds of specific videos on faith, Scripture, character, and personal growth - short, powerful reflections you can use each day for yourself or with your family to stay rooted in Christ in a noisy world.
So if Jesus truly is the Son of God, nothing else deserves first place. Not money. Not careers. Not pleasure. Not fear. Following Jesus will cost you something, but not following Him costs everything. Let us walk more gently, love more boldly, forgive more freely, pray more often, judge less, serve more, and remember every day why we are here. Heaven is the destination. Let us live like we believe it.
With love and hope in Christ.
