If Jesus Were Walking the Earth Today, What Would He Say About Us
If Jesus were physically walking among us today, scrolling social feeds, seeing how we talk to each other, watching how we treat one another, watching the news, the influencers, the wars, the greed, the division - what would He think?
That’s a question more of us should be asking. Because while we often think about what others think of us… we rarely stop and ask what Jesus would say about the lives we’re living - as individuals, as communities, as a generation, and as a world.
What Would He See?
If Jesus looked around today, what would He find?
People glued to their phones, endlessly scrolling but feeling more alone than ever.
Violence and hate normalized in music, games, and media.
Friendships built on likes and filters, rather than love and truth.
Families breaking apart.
People chasing money, fame, and pleasure like it’s all that matters.
A generation drowning in anxiety, confusion, and identity struggles - yet being told that God doesn’t belong in the conversation.
He would see brilliance, creativity, potential… but also distraction, division, and deep spiritual hunger. He would see us overwhelmed by comparison, temptation, and pressure to fit in. And He would grieve, not because He’s angry with us, but because He knows what we’re missing.
What Would He Say?
He wouldn’t cancel us. He wouldn’t post a call-out thread. He wouldn’t ignore us. He would come close. He always did. He would sit with the hurting. He would speak truth to the proud. He would weep with the anxious. He would flip the tables of corruption and greed. He would love, call, challenge, and forgive.
But He would also ask: “What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” (Matthew 16:26) And then He’d wait for your answer.
Are We Moving in the Right Direction?
If we’re being honest… a lot of us are off track.
We’re distracted more than we’re present.
We’re entertained more than we’re enriched.
We’re loud on social media but quiet in prayer.
We care more about popularity than purpose.
We know influencers, but not our own identity in Christ.
And even though we feel it (deep down) we still struggle to change. But Jesus didn’t come to shame us for falling away. He came to invite us back.
What Should We Be Doing Differently?
If Jesus were here today, He might say this: “Unfollow what’s killing your spirit. Stop trading your peace for popularity. Love people - not just your tribe, your team, or your feed. And come back to Me - I’m still here.” He would remind us that…
Being kind matters more than being seen.
Purpose is greater than performance.
Silence with God is more powerful than noise from the world.
Truth is not whatever gets the most likes.
Faith is not weakness, it’s fire.
How Can You Start Today?
Here are a few ways to reset and realign with what matters:
Pause the noise - Take a break from social media to hear your own soul.
Start your day in prayer - Even 2 minutes. Ask Jesus what He wants for you.
Watch a 5-minute faith video daily at SmartGuy.com - Simple, powerful, and real.
Talk to someone about faith - A parent, priest, friend, or mentor.
Be honest with God - He already knows. He’s just waiting for you to open the door.
What If Jesus Is Already Walking Among Us?
Maybe the bigger question isn’t “What would Jesus say if He were here?” But rather: “What is Jesus saying now and are we listening?”
He’s still speaking. Through your conscience. Through Scripture. Through people trying to bring light into dark places. And He’s still calling you - not to perfection, but to come home.
So the next time you open your phone, or sit with your thoughts, or wonder what your life is really about…Just ask: “If Jesus were right next to me right now, what would He say?”
And more importantly… What will you do with His answer?
