How to Pray When You’re Distracted or Bored
Let’s be real - prayer can be hard. You sit down to pray, and five seconds later, you’re thinking about food, your phone, or something awkward you said in 8th grade. Or maybe you start to pray and think, This is boring. I don’t feel anything. What’s the point?

If that’s you - guess what? You’re not failing. You’re human. Even the greatest saints struggled to pray. But they kept showing up - and that’s the secret.
Prayer isn’t about feelings. It’s about faithfulness. God isn’t waiting for you to impress Him. He just wants you to be present.
Tips for when you’re distracted:
Be honest with God.
Keep it simple.
Use structure (ACTS, Rosary, Scripture).
Eliminate distractions.
Pray with your body.
Don’t give up when it feels dry.
Use your distractions as fuel.
Invite the Holy Spirit.
Prayer is like a muscle. It grows the more you use it. Some days will be dry. Some will feel amazing. But every time you show up, you’re building a relationship with the living God.
Remember: prayer is not about perfect focus. It’s about faithful presence. God isn’t grading you. He’s smiling because you came to be with Him. And that’s more than enough.
