Free Will - Choosing the Light Every Day

God gives us the gift of free will. But how is that a gift?

God gives us the choice to either choose to walk in the light, Jesus, or to stumble in the darkness. However, God promises that through the light, we will not stumble and that we can help lift others so that they too may see the light.

“Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever!” Romans 1:24

God is willing to give us the choice between Him or the world, He’s not going to force us to follow Him. He loves us so much that He gives us this gift of free will to choose what path we want to follow. Greatness or something disguised as greatness. He promises us that through following His son, we will not stumble in life. We will have clarity, truth and peace that only truly comes from Jesus Christ.

 “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Jesus gives us the everlasting promise that through Him, we will not stumble in the darkness of the world. However, that is a choice that we have to make. Are you willing to give up your desires of the flesh? Are you going to pick up your cross daily and follow Jesus? 

This is some of what Jesus calls us to do as disciples so that we may walk in the fullness of the Lord and be a light to those around us. 

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father”. Matthew 5:14-16

So be the light of God to those around you. Choose to follow Christ in your daily life and learn what it truly means to be a disciple of Jesus. Let the light of God shine through you for all to see so that they, too, may be inspired to follow Jesus. Jesus loves you and wants you to choose the truth
