The “UltraSuction™ System utilizes an air chamber that is fabricated with a specially designed bar and a unidirectional valve and diaphragm, which creates (-80mm of mercury) negative atmospheric pressure internally on the alveolar ridge of the denture when the denture is in function. The negative atmospheric pressure is maintained as the patient is in function. When the patient is not swallowing, talking, or eating, the valve is designed to release 10mm of negative air pressure each 15 seconds. This is a definite advantage to the patient in maintaining oral health, as the tissue is not subjected to continuous suction. When the patient applies pressure to the upper or lower denture, suction occurs to seal the alveolar bone and periphery to hold the denture securely for the patient, even with little or no bone for support. Upper dentures can be fabricated with a reduced palate to increase taste sensation, with the patient’s speech also being improved.
