Looking for Riverside, RI Credit Union? On August 11, 2010, Columbus Credit Union and its members celebrated 60 years as one of the East Bay's savings institutions. Thirty-seven Knights of Columbus members attended the first annual meeting, held October 16, 1950, in the basement of St. Mary's Institute - now St. Mary of the Bay Church. Membership was originally limited to K of C members and their families. All transactions were handled Friday nights from 7 to 9 in the basement of St. Mary's Institute. The "office was in a hat, you might say." After operating at the Institute for a few months, the credit union moved to the second floor of a building on Main Street. On September 6, 1954, they moved again, to the Warren Hotel Building. On May 15, 1958, the union voted to purchase the present site - the former Wilmarth property at 560 Main Street.
